Expert flight instructors will allow you to unleash your secret desire to fly a helicopter.

"Who dares, grins." Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to take control of a high powered two seat helicopter with your flight instructor, and attempt to hover the beast, then to take off to soar skyward with the birds to view the amazing scenic delights around Wanaka, before swooping down to fly low and fast along the Clutha River. As if that's not enough, you then will climb skyward again to then 'cut the gas', and autorotate onto the airfield.

At completion of your mission, a T-shirt depicting your incredible action packed experience, will be yours to show off to your mates.

Around Wanaka Lakes region we have terrain and Heli Biking trips that will suit any ability or skill level. All trips include the services of a guide who will ensure you are very well informed and cared for. The highest of our trips starts at 6500 feet (2200 meters) above sea level high on the Pisa Range of mountains. Your 10 minute scenic helicopter ride starts from Wanaka Airport and lands you right beside your 'ready to go guides and bikes'.

The 'downhill trail takes you over some of Wanaka's most historic sheep and cattle stations with unsurpassed views of Lakes Wanaka and Hawea. Bikes are top end models with full suspension and disc brakes.

Your helicopter ride is your "Easy way up" after which, gravity and your bike will get you down and ensure you a wonderful day out.

Wanaka has unlimited amounts of hiking terrain, both near and far, and Wanaka Helicopters can fly you to an area that will most suit your level of fitness, experience and the length of time you have available. Hikers can have the option of free walking or engaging the services of a guide.

Hiking can be conducted all year round but in winter time, snow can restrict some higher level hikes. As most walks are in alpine and mountainous terrain, even in summer it is advisable to be equipped with sturdy footwear and warm clothing.

Its no secret New Zealand has some of the best fishing to offer in the world and Southern Lakes area is probably the best in New Zealand. From our base in Wanaka we provide efficient, personalised, guided fly fishing charters to many remote rivers and streams. We can make up half, full, or multi day fishing excursions to suit all levels or expertise, from novice or expert.
