Private Pilot Licence – PPL(H)

A PPL(H) permits the holder to act as the Pilot in Command of an aircraft privately (not for reward). It is also a pre-requisite for the Commercial Pilot License CPL(H) programme.

No previous experience is necessary when learning to fly a helicopter, but if you have some previous fixed wing experience this can be beneficial. The only requirement is that you are able to pass a medical examination to ensure you are fit to fly.

We train people of all ages and backgrounds who share one common passion – flying helicopters.

At least 50 hours of flight training and six aviation theory exam papers are required.

More details about the PPL(H) requirements can be found on the CAA website, follow this link.

The CAA publication ‘How to Be a Pilot’ is another useful resource.
